Welcome to the Progressive Voter Network website.  This site will help you learn more about who we are, what we do, and how you can get involved. 

 

The Progressive Voter Network (PVN) is an organization that brings together interested people, trained staff, pressing issues and good groups.  I was drawn to PVN after working on nonpartisan issues for most of the last decade.  I wanted a vehicle that would fuse the time, experience, and expertise of professional staff with the desire of many people to tackle pressing problems in the world.   

 

PVN is founded on the following principles:

• There are good groups out there working on good issues, and we’d all be better served with more people helping out from time to time.
• Although we all have a thing that we’re most passionate about, most people are concerned about many different issues that don’t necessarily fit into a single group’s issue domain. 
• Elections are important, but equally important is the time between elections.  During this time, our elected leaders need to hear from people other than special interest lobbyists. 
• Constituents are usually the best messengers for their elected officials, yet most people have never met with their representatives.  Most people have also never planned a news conference, or a letter writing drive, or a visibility event on issues they care about.  That’s where staff can be very helpful.  

 

Of course, these are just the theoretical underpinnings of PVN.  What matters in the real world is what we can accomplish.  Check out the website and see what you think.  Perhaps you have a few hours a week, or even a month, to volunteer.  Perhaps you only have time to write a letter or make a call to a legislator once a month.  Perhaps you’re too busy now, though the idea of PVN is intriguing and you’d like to get involved when you have more time.  Perhaps you know others who would be interested.  The point is to get involved at the level that works for you.
